Early Life & Origins
I was born in Germany on August 12th, 1939, just before the outbreak of World War II. Growing up in a large family of seven, our lives were shaped by the historical shifts of both Germany and later South Africa. From the age of eleven, I was a keen reader, often losing myself in the stories of missionaries that sparked a deep desire within me to serve abroad.
During my school years in Reinstetten, I witnessed the incredible commitment of the Franciscan Sisters of Siessen. I often assisted them in the Parish Church or with daily chores, inspired by their example—though I only realized much later how difficult their lives truly were.
Education & Profession
While I initially trained in **General Nursing** at St. Mary’s Hospital in Marianhill, my heart was always set on education. I broke new ground by enrolling at the University of the Free State during a time of great transition, obtaining my BA and University Education Diploma.
A Global Mission
My missionary heart led me to **Brazil** for a tough but transformative sabbatical, and later to **Pomfret**, where I served an Angolan community alongside Brazilian sisters. In 2004, at the request of Archbishop Tlhagale, I became deeply involved in the essential battle against the HIV/AIDS epidemic, using my training to provide both care and hope.
