Our Franciscan Journey

Sent Out to Serve
Welcome to our digital home. Rooted in the peaceful tradition of Saint Francis, our presence in the Free State is a journey of active faith. We believe that our calling is meant to be shared openly with the world, pushing us to step beyond our doors to bring hope, dignity, and care to the surrounding villages and rural communities.

ABOUT OUR LIFE
We praise, love, and serve God in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, living a life of simplicity and humility. Inspired by the Franciscan charism, we seek to live the Gospel through prayer, community life, and service. Through our ministries—such as teaching, nursing, social work, retreats, and spiritual accompaniment—we serve especially the poor and vulnerable, while promoting respect for all people and care for creation..
Our History
From our humble beginnings in Germany in 1854 to our arrival in South Africa on the 7th of September 1932, the Franciscan Sisters of Siessen have been dedicated to a life of service. Over the decades, our mission has expanded across borders, carrying the spirit of St. Francis to communities in need.
Today, we continue to grow, rooted in our history while looking forward to the future of our missionary work.
