Vocational Journey
My love for religious life began at a very young age. We had Handmaids of Christ the Priest (HCP) Sisters in our parish who taught catechism classes. I told myself that one day I would like to be like them. Later, I became an altar server, and a Sister served as our Adult Supporter Body (ASB). I enjoyed serving at the altar, though I now realize it was part of my discernment, as I was always seeking something that would bring me closer to God.
After some years without Sisters in our parish, the HCP brought their novices to our pastoral district. I was amazed to see such young women in religious life, as I had always thought it was only for older people. My love and excitement for religious life grew stronger. I began to research this life and even started asking the HCP novices questions. After gaining some understanding of religious life and learning about different congregations, I began visiting the HCP Sisters during my school holidays in 2018.
I came to know the Franciscan Sisters of Siessen through a young woman who mentioned them in 2020. Later, I travelled to Assisi for an assessment conducted by Sr. Emmanuela. This simple yet profound experience sparked a deeper questioning of my denial regarding the Franciscan Sisters of Siessen. After discernment and deep reflection, I realized that while I am called to give myself to God and his Church, I am called to serve Him in the spirit of St. Francis: simplicity and humility.
This reminds me to prioritize God's will over personal desires and embrace challenges as part of following Christ. K. KOBE
